ST MARY'S QUAY - ISLES OF SCILLY

ST MARY'S QUAY - ISLES OF SCILLY

KML has brought dredging works to St Mary's Quay, Isles of Scilly, to a successful and smooth completion.

The dredging works are part of a large marine civils scheme which includes the extension and widening of the existing quay on this remote island off the South West coast of the UK.

Flat-top barge "BC6470" was deployed with a 60te long reach excavator to prepare the seabed for further constructions works.  Landing craft "Morlander" was converted into a hopper barge for the job; dredge arising where placed in the timber lined deck to transport it to a nearby beach where it was further handled by KML with an articulated loading shovel.  Equipped with two Azimuth pump jets, the Morlander proved particularly useful performing these amphibious duties at the remote island location.
