KML ACHIEVE ISO CERTIFICATION

KML ACHIEVE ISO CERTIFICATION

KML is playing an increasingly pivotal role in the growing international drive for marine renewable energy installation projects. The company has a number of vessels operating within northern Europe and has built unique expertise and experience providing engineering design, project management, installation, operation, maintenance and decommissioning services for the marine renewables sector.  KML also supplies wave, tidal and marine construction projects with a full suite of standalone services from professional consultancy through to marine  equipment hire, including heavy mooring gear, crawler cranes, and wharfage.

To ensure harmonisation across its business processes, KML has just achieved the ISO 14001 certification, joining the ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 already held by the company.

As a business we are working with globally renowned companies in the marine renewable energy and marine civil engineering sectors, providing a range of services and expertise on everything from consultancy in the early stages of project design, the supply of specialist vessels, survey and inspection work,  through to full marine civil engineering skills at the point of implementation.

With strategic sites around the UK and further afield we felt it prudent to ensure all of our business procedures were harmonised in line with internationally recognised standards and the ISO Certifications have enabled us to more clearly demonstrate our focus on quality, safety and environmental management to existing and prospective customers,” said KML Director, Diccon Rogers.

Currently the company is actively working on projects in the North of Scotland as well as South West England and the English Channel, whilst also recently completing projects in the Cape Verde islands and Ireland.

The marine sector is extremely heavily regulated and as a business we take great pride in ensuring all of our vessels and equipment conform to stringent UK & international standards and also see the ISO certifications as a way to bolster this approach with the way we work internally.

The marine renewable energy sector is one which we identified very early in the life of the business as having significant growth potential both here in the UK and internationally and it is now a significant side of our business. Securing the 3 certifications serves to support the wide range of high quality services and equipment we offer to national and international businesses involved in every aspect of the marine sector, helping to meet their own requirements in terms of working with suppliers that have achieved recognised professional standards,” he added.

Roger Preston of ISO consultancy IMSM believes KML’s growing reputation in the international offshore marine renewable energy and marine civil sectors can be further enhanced as a result of these certifications.

There is no doubt that more organisations today are looking to partner with companies that have achieved internationally recognised standards such as ISO. The team at KML are clearly committed to quality in every aspect of their business and achieving the 3 certifications in a relatively short timescale  demonstrates this,” said Roger.
