NEW RNLI SLIPWAY AT ST JUSTINIAN'S

NEW RNLI SLIPWAY AT ST JUSTINIAN'S

KML have successfully completed their second contract with BAM Nuttall on their challenging construction of a new RNLI slipway and facilities. The new station is located the next cove over from the existing 100 year old station at St Justinian's.

KML’s “Severn Sins” landing craft was chartered to transport the piling and slipway structures and equipment from Pembroke Dock direct to the construction site and jack-up barge, thereby overcoming the problems of access in the remote location with only narrow lanes leading down to the cove at St Justinian’s.

The project includes a boathouse and slipway for the new Tamar class lifeboat with additional space to accommodate the smaller D-class inshore lifeboat. There will be better access to the station which is important for the delivery of equipment and, more importantly, for the evacuation of casualties brought in by the lifeboat.

KML are pleased to have continued their working relationship with BAM on this exciting project and assisting the build of such a vital RNLI station.
